This creamy lemon tahini dressing is only 5 ingredients and can be whipped up in 2 minutes flat. It tastes like spring and I'm loving it on pretty much everything these days!
The 5 Ingredient Lemon Tahini Dressing I'm sharing with you today is alarmingly simple. Like, once you read the ingredients and instructions you will be like "that's it???" Simple is good in this day and age. And to be honest, simple cooking with high-quality ingredients and time-honored techniques makes for some of the best food I've eaten (especially in Italy).
We're kicking off this week on Sweet Cayenne with the first of 3 recipes you can pair together as part of a simple, cohesive menu. The other two recipes include a simple spring salad and roasted sesame sweet potatoes. It seems that a lot of you want suggestions about what to pair different recipes you find here on Sweet Cayenne or elsewhere, so I'm going to try and publish recipes within a week that pair effortlessly and can be mixed and matched.
What is tahini
Chances are, if you like to read recipes online, you've seen a lot of tahini lately. It's totally having a moment right now. And for good reason! If you aren't familiar with it, tahini is a butter or paste made from sesame seeds. Ever had sunflower seed butter? Well, tahini is the sesame seed version of that. You've probably had it without even realizing it, as it's the secondary ingredient in hummus (along with chickpeas). It's most commonly used in Middle Eastern cuisine, but is quickly making its way into baked goods, smoothies, protein balls, sauces, and spreads that are common in the States. Tahini can be found on the international aisle or in the nut butter section of most grocery stores. I love it because you can store it at room temperature, it lasts quite a while, and it's a great substitute for nut butters if you are cooking for someone with a nut allergy.
It so easy to just whip up a batch in a Mason jar and use it as your main condiment throughout the week!
Uses
Since making this simple dressing, I've loved using it in the following ways:
- As a salad dressing
- A creamy topping for roasted and baked potatoes
- Sandwich spread or sauce for a wrap
- A sauce for roasted chicken or steak
- Dip for a crudites platter or veggie board
As written, this recipe is gluten-free, low carb, made with 100% real ingredients, and simple to put together, making it fit into a wide variety of healthy eating patterns!
