This simple honey mustard dressing is an easy homemade vinaigrette that you can whip up at a moment's notice. It's just the right thickness to serve as a salad dressing, dip, or spread and has an amazing sweet-tangy flavor with a hint of savory smokiness.

    About the recipe

Homemade condiments - like sauces, spread, dressings, and vinaigrettes, are some of my favorite recipes to develop. Not only are they quick and easy to create, they often are the best way to turn simple dishes into something extra special. I often find that a good dressing or vinaigrette is what really makes a salad and keeps people coming back for more!

This no-mayo honey mustard dressing recipe is a healthy version of what you often find at the store. You won't find any corn syrup or strange additives here! Just simple, high-quality ingredients like honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and few seasonings to pump up the volume on flavor.

    Ingredients

My honey mustard dressing is made of a few simple ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry or fridge:

    • ¼ cup honey
    • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
    • ¼ cup Avocado oil
    • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
    • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • Salt and pepper to taste

    Instructions

Making a dressing from scratch could not be easier. All you have to do is combine the ingredients in a bowl and whisk them together! Or, if you want to be lazy like I am sometimes, just put the ingredients in a Mason jar and shake them up. Voila! Homemade dressing in a flash.

    Modifications

This honey mustard vinaigrette is easy to modify according to your taste preferences and what you have on hand. Here are some ideas for making it your own:

    • Add subtle flavor nuance by using different types of honey. Local honey would be amazing, or floral honey, such as orange blossom or wildflower honey.
    • Add texture by using half whole grain mustard and half Dijon mustard
    • Play around with the acidity. Make the dressing sweeter by using white balsamic vinegar or less acidic by using fresh lemon juice or champagne vinegar.
    • Use Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce if you need to ensure the recipe is gluten-free.

    Nutrition

Making dressings and vinaigrettes at home is one of the easiest ways to cut back on added sugar, salt, and preservatives. YOU control exactly what goes into the recipe and in what amount. It's really much faster than you would think, and way more delicious!

Often times people decide that homemade dressings and vinaigrettes are better than the storebought versions. I know that is the case for me with this honey mustard dressing! It's also a simple way to reduce the use of single-use plastic or containers in your kitchen, as you just shake up this dressing in any reusable glass container.

    Serving suggestions

I love to make a double batch of this honey mustard dressing because it keeps in the fridge for up to a month. It's nice to always have some on hand because there are SO many delicious ways to use it up! Below are some of my favorites:

    • Serve as the dressing for a summery potato salad
    • Drizzle on crispy roasted potatoes or this perfect roasted asparagus
    • Use as a dip for chicken fingers or vegetable crudites
    • Spread it on your favorite sandwich or panini
    • Use it as a marinade for grilled chicken
    • Drizzle it on a fresh colorful salad or grain bowl
